Home Up Eagle Info Order of the Arrow Packing List Training Troop Positions Advancement

Every Scout deserves a trained leader. We at Troop 73 have several opportunities to be trained. The District offers these classes.

To be a “Trained” Asst Scoutmaster you should have completed Youth Protection Training (which can be taken online here - http://olc.scouting.org/info/ypt.html ). Then you will have taken Scoutmaster Specific Training (a classroom training that last about 5 hours). Then finally Outdoor Leadership Skills (taken at a camp usually lasting two days). Once those are completed you may decide to take extra training such as Wood Badge or Powder Horn. Other trainings can be done online such as Safe Swim Defense, Climb On Safely, or Safety Afloat. Also available in the Bluegrass Council each fall is University of Scouting . A chance to be around other scout leaders and learn from each-other.

To be trained as a committee person, you should have taken Youth Protection Training. Also you should take Troop Committee Training. In addition to Troop Committee Training, you can look into other areas – such as “How to conduct a board of review” or  attend University of  Scouting to find out how other units do things. It is good to be around other Scouters.

Take YOUTH PROTECTION TRAINING then email/fax your certificate to  Frances.Derossett@scouting.org
